Week 9 Notices

1)       Please make sure that you book a time for the Parent, teacher, pupil conferences. These are Monday and Tuesday next week. Those people who have already had an interview with me after the Term 1 reports you do not need to book a time!

2)       I am so sorry about the Winter Sport. We are not having much luck with our Fridays so far. Maybe next week!

3)       Currently we are learning about addition and subtraction strategies. Please would you check that your child knows the addition and subtraction tables so that they can recall them really quickly.

4)       William, Ben S., Benjamin and Arjun have decided that they would like to raise money for the Christchurch City Rebuild. They will be holding a cookie stall on Friday 22nd at morning tea time. What a great idea boys! Please would the Room 8 parents support this venture by sending a $1.00 for a cookie next Friday. Thank you the four parents who have offered to help make the cookies to support their boys in this very worthy venture!

5)       Thank you Jessica and Luke for being such great leaders at our Assembly on Friday! Congratulations to Natalie for being our Trustworthy person last week! Congratulations also to Bella on her Certificate. What great Room 8 people!

Notices Room 8 Week 8 Term 2

1.       Okay! So we did get the snow and apparently there is more on the way. I have most people’s email addresses but several families have still not sent their email address to me. In case of school closures this term, due to weather, please would you check to make sure that I have an email with which to contact you. Thanks for your help with this!

2.       Hopefully we will be starting our Winter sport this week. Please would you ensure that the children have their sports uniform on Friday.

3.       We will try again for the presentation of the Triathlon awards this Friday. Parents are most welcome to join us at 9.00 for this assembly.

4.       Thank you to all the parents who have helped their children with the speeches over the last two weeks. We are nearly done and all the children have stood up and delivered their speeches clearly. Obviously they have put considerable preparation into these speeches.

5.       Have a good calamity free week!

What are we up to in our classroom?

In maths we have just finished Geometry and we are now focusing on Number.  Don't forget to practice your times tables at home!

In writing we are learning about Expositions!  The importance of an Exposition is to persuade the reader to your point of view.

Found some extra photos of International day that I thought parents might like to share.

Here Natalie and Jae Young carry the International Flag at the Parade of countries.

Getting ready for the big parade.
Room 8 ready to go!!

Assembly is postponed!

Just to let parents know that the Assembly to be held tomorrow to present the Certificates for the Syndicate 2 Triathlon will be held next week!
Hoping you are all keeping safe and warm during this little chilly snap!

1.       Welcome back after the long weekend. I hope you all a great rest!

2.       This Friday in Assembly we will be presenting the Certificates to the place getters in our Triathlon. Parents you are most welcome to join us!

3.       At the moment we are doing a lot of testing. This may mean that your child’s Reading is not heard in class or that s/he does not have new book to take home each night. Please continue with reading the library books or any chapter book you may have at home.  Please do fill in the Reading Log so I know what your child has been reading.

4.       Have a great week! Let’s see if we really do get the promised snow!
